INDIGENT NEGRO AND CAUCASIAN BIRTH WEIGHT-GESTATIONAL AGE TABLES

Abstract

Birth weight-gestational age tables have been calculated for 7,547 indigent Caucasian and 9,800 indigent Negro deliveries. Twin pregnancies, macerated stillborn fetuses, and incomplete cases were excluded. The various collected data were tabulated by race and sex, and the 3rd, 5th, 10th, 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 75th, 90th, and 97th percentiles were determined. The 10th, 50th, and 90th percentiles are graphed. Ten standards for future birth weight-gestational age studies are suggested.
