Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the relationship between personality types of college students and their learning styles. The total population of the study is composed of 421 undergraduate students from University of Gaziantep. The Big Factor Personality Inventory and Kolb’s Learning Styles Inventory III were used as the research tools. Participants’ personality traits, dispersion levels of their learning styles and the relationships between these two variables were measured by using Kmeans cluster, percentage and frequency and chi-square analysis respectively. The results of the cluster analysis suggested two different personality profiles and the participants appeared to be equally distributed into these two groups. In terms of learning styles, it was noticed that the majority of the participants adopted assimilating and diverging learning styles. The results revealed a meaningful relationship between learning styles and personality profiles.
