A study was made of the characteristics of a pulsed CF4 laser, optically pumped by a pulsed CO2 laser whose frequency was stabilized by injecting a signal from a low-pressure cw CO2 laser. The laser output energy was observed to saturate with increasing pump energy, the maximum value obtained being 0.1 J at an efficiency of up to 1%.
