We are really pleased to publish here the papers presented at the international workshop Interpreting household practices: archaeological reflections on the social and cultural roles of maintenance activities, which took place in Barcelona in November 2007 (22-24). Originally, it was designed following the initiative consolidated by the previous workshop Women and maintenance activities in times of change, celebrated also in Barcelona in November 2005 (Gonzalez Marcen, Monton and Picazo 2005).
