Abstract

It is unlikely that the optical‐infrared energetics of the Galactic Center are dominated by a single, nonthermal source as would be the case for a Seyfert or other kind of active galaxy. The energetics of this region can, however, be explained as the result of recent formation of massive stars; in this regard, our Galaxy may be analogous to M82, NGC 253, and similar galaxies.
