Crush Energy Formulations and Single-Event Reconstruction

Abstract

This paper reviews past, current, and proposed formulations which express the crush energy of irregular and oblique collision deformations, based on tests with regular and normal deformations in the context of single-event (forensic) reconstruction. Improvements in energy and delta-V valuation, beyond that needed for statistical studies of multiple events, are possible and available.
