Abstract

Drawing on the work of researchers from around the world, this book is a state-of-the-art summary of work in sweet potato pest management. The contributors address issues of crop protection and management of pests such as the sweet potato weevil, wireworms, chrysomelid and flea beetles, vine borers, plant-parasitic nematodes, and aphid and whitefly virus vectors and their associated viruses. They also present data on biological control of pests and the breeding of resistant cultivars. Most importantly, however, the researchers look beyond the fields to address regulatory issues and the socioeconomic problems of management.
