Abstract The isolation, composition, and amino acid sequences of tryptic peptides of the tryptophan synthetase α chain of Salmonella typhimurium are described. The probable over-all sequence of the 268 residues in this polypeptide are compared with that of Escherichia coli, and 44 residue differences are apparent.
