Abstract

This is an economic survey of the estimated use, energy budget and consumption patterns of fuelwood throughout the developing countries. The use of charcoal is also examined on the basis of available data. It is estimated that the total annual use of all wood for fuel in the developing countries is 1.2 billion m/sup 3/. This compares with roughly 150 million m/sup 3/ used annually in industrialized countries. 19 references.
