This report examines the way in which employers in England are responding to an ageing workforce. It draws on two bodies of evidence: (1) a large quantitative survey of employer behaviour conducted in 2004/05 by the National Institute of Social and Economic Research (NIESR) - the Survey of Employers Policies, Practices and Preferences (SEPP); (2) a set of 70 qualitative interviews with employers in five key sectors, conducted in 2006 by the Centre for Research into the Older Workforce (CROW).
