Abstract

Rats can be made diabetic by pancreatectomy (Scow, 1957) or by the administration of alloxan Some of the metabolic abnormalities in pancreatectomized (Scow & Cher- nick, 1960) and alloxan-diabetic (Lukens, 1948; Spiro & Hastings, 1958) rats have been studied, but little is known about the serum-treated animals. The observations reported here show that lipid accumulates rapidly in the liver and blood of rats rendered diabetic by anti-insulin serum.
