Zwitterionic Coatings
Zwitterionic Coatings is a class of antifouling surface modifications that, as a genus, function by imparting strong hydration layers through electrostatically induced water molecule orientation, and, by differentia, utilize molecular structures bearing both cationic and anionic functional groups within the same monomer unit to achieve superior resistance to nonspecific adsorption of biomolecules and microorganisms in aqueous environments.
