Wind-Generated Noise is an ocean ambient noise component originating from the interaction of wind with the sea surface, distinguished from other noise sources by its dependence on local wind speed and its dominant contribution to the underwater acoustic field in the frequency range of approximately 500 Hz to 50 kHz.
