Weak-field Ligands

Weak-Field Ligands is a class of ligands in coordination chemistry that, within the framework of Crystal Field Theory, induce a small splitting of the d-orbital energy levels in a central metal ion, resulting in high-spin complexes due to the relatively low magnitude of the crystal field splitting energy compared to the electron pairing energy.
