Wave-tide Interaction

Wave-Tide Interaction is a hydrodynamic phenomenon in coastal oceanography characterized by the modulation of tidal currents and water levels through the nonlinear coupling with surface gravity waves, particularly in shallow tidal inlets, where wave-induced setup, radiation stress gradients, and tidal phase locking collectively alter flow dynamics, sediment transport, and inlet morphology.
