Volatile Geochemistry

Volatile Geochemistry is a subfield of Igneous, Mantle, and Volcanic Geochemistry that specifically investigates the abundance, behavior, and isotopic systematics of volatile elements and compounds—such as H₂O, CO₂, S, Cl, and noble gases—during magmatic processes, thereby elucidating their role in mantle melting, magma generation, volcanic degassing, and the evolution of Earth's interior and atmosphere.
