Unaccusative Verbs

Unaccusative Verbs is a syntactic and semantic verb class within argument structure wherein the sole argument of the verb, though semantically a patient or theme, occupies the subject position and lacks an external agent, distinguishing it from unergative and transitive verbs by its failure to assign a thematic role to the subject from an underlying object position.
