Ultraviolet Reddening

Ultraviolet Reddening is a wavelength-dependent interstellar extinction effect in the ultraviolet regime in which dust in the interstellar medium preferentially absorbs and scatters shorter-wavelength ultraviolet photons relative to longer-wavelength photons, thereby making the observed ultraviolet spectra and colors of astronomical objects appear systematically redder than their intrinsic emission.
