Type-prototype Relationship

Type-Prototype Relationship is a theoretical construct in typological critique that specifies the inferential and structural linkage between an idealized categorical model (type) and its empirically grounded, exemplar-based instantiation (prototype), distinguishing it from mere classification by articulating how abstract typological forms are systematically derived from, or contrasted with, prototypical instances.
