Two-step Transesterification

Two-Step Transesterification is a biochemical mechanism in pre-mRNA splicing wherein two sequential transesterification reactions catalyze the removal of an intron by first forming a lariat intermediate through nucleophilic attack at the 5' splice site and then joining the exons via attack at the 3' splice site.
