Transscleral Absorption

Transscleral Absorption is the process by which therapeutic agents permeate through the scleral tissue from the outer surface of the eye to reach intraocular target sites, distinguishing it from other ocular drug absorption pathways by its reliance on the sclera’s relatively porous collagenous matrix to facilitate sustained delivery to posterior segments of the eye.
