Transmission-based Precautions

Transmission-Based Precautions is a category of infection-prevention and control measures applied in addition to Standard Precautions for patients known or suspected to be infected or colonized with epidemiologically important or highly transmissible pathogens, and distinguished by being specifically tailored to the pathogen’s mode of transmission (contact, droplet, or airborne) to prevent further spread within health care settings.
