Trailing Stratiform Regions

Trailing Stratiform Region is a mesoscale precipitation structure characterized by a broad, gently sloping region of stratiform rainfall that develops behind the convective line in a midlatitude mesoscale convective system, typically associated with a rear-inflow jet and a mesoscale downdraft that destabilizes the trailing anvil, thereby distinguishing it from other types of mesoscale convective system morphology such as leading or parallel stratiform configurations.
