Tooth Opalescence

Tooth Opalescence is an optical phenomenon characterized by the differential scattering and wavelength-dependent reflection of light within dental enamel, resulting in a blue-to-white hue under reflected light and a yellow-to-red appearance under transmitted light, thereby distinguishing it from other tooth color attributes by its dependence on viewing geometry and light interaction with hydroxyapatite crystallite microstructures.
