Three-photon Absorption

Three-Photon Absorption is a nonlinear optical process in which three photons are simultaneously absorbed by a semiconductor material, resulting in an electronic transition to a higher energy state, distinguished from lower-order multiphoton absorption processes by its dependence on the cube of the incident light intensity and its occurrence only at sufficiently high photon densities.
