Third-order Asymptotics

Third-Order Asymptotics is a refinement in finite blocklength information theory that characterizes the non-asymptotic fundamental limits of communication systems by identifying the precise $O(1/\sqrt{n})$-order terms in the expansion of coding rates, thereby distinguishing itself from first- and second-order asymptotic analyses by capturing the dominant error contributions beyond the Gaussian approximation.
