Third Dredge-up

Third Dredge-Up is a stellar nucleosynthetic process in asymptotic giant branch stars whereby partially processed material from the helium-burning shell is transported to the outer envelope via convective mixing following a thermal pulse, thereby altering the surface composition through the enrichment of carbon and s-process elements.
