Thermomechanical Coupling

Thermomechanical Coupling is an academic concept in continuum mechanics that refers to the bidirectional interaction between thermal and mechanical processes, wherein changes in temperature influence mechanical behavior such as strain or stress, and in turn, mechanical deformation induces thermal effects, particularly under irreversible thermodynamic conditions and at varying strain rates in materials and geophysical systems.
