Tactile Coding
Tactile Coding is a neurobiological process within somatosensory systems that transforms mechanical stimuli from the skin into spatially and temporally structured patterns of neural activity, distinguishing it from other sensory coding mechanisms by its specific encoding of touch-related features such as pressure, texture, vibration, and edge orientation through dedicated mechanoreceptor pathways and cortical representations.
