Symplastic Transport

Symplastic Transport is a mechanism of intercellular communication in plant tissues that involves the direct cell-to-cell movement of solutes and signaling molecules through the symplast, consisting of a continuous network of cytoplasm connected by plasmodesmata, thereby distinguishing it from apoplastic transport, which occurs through extracellular spaces.
