Swing Style Analysis
Swing Style Analysis is a methodological framework within jazz musicology that systematically examines the rhythmic, melodic, and phrasing characteristics distinctive to the Swing Era, differentiating it from other jazz analytical approaches by its focused application to the stylistic conventions and performance practices of 1930s and 1940s big band and small group jazz.
