Suture Zones

Suture Zone is a tectonic boundary zone, defined as a linear geological region where two formerly distinct continental lithospheric plates are joined following the cessation of subduction and the completion of continental collision, distinguished by the presence of remnants of obducted oceanic crust and mantle rocks, marking the sutured margin of an amalgamated orogen.
