Sufi Initiation

Sufi Initiation is a ritualized spiritual rite of passage within the Sufi tradition that formally inducts a disciple into a mystical order through a pledge of allegiance to a living spiritual master, thereby distinguishing it from other Islamic devotional practices by its emphasis on personalized guidance, esoteric instruction, and the transmission of baraka (divine grace) essential for inner purification and ascension on the tariqa (path) to divine knowledge.
