Subsurface Water Storage

Subsurface Water Storage is the component of watershed water balance that encompasses the retention and conveyance of water within saturated and unsaturated geological formations below the land surface, distinguished from surface and atmospheric storage by its dependence on pore spaces in soil, sediment, and rock matrices for groundwater recharge, baseflow contribution, and long-term aquifer storage.
