Stride Piano
Stride Piano is a jazz piano technique originating in the early 20th century that belongs to the broader category of jazz piano styles, distinguished by its alternating bass-line pattern in the left hand—comprising a low root or fifth followed by a mid-range seventh or third—and syncopated, improvisational melodic figures in the right hand, thereby creating a rhythmic and harmonic framework essential to Harlem stride traditions.
