Stratigraphic Preservation
Stratigraphic Preservation is the systematic maintenance and protection of the layered arrangement of archaeological deposits (strata) within their original depositional context, distinguishing it from other forms of site preservation by its specific focus on retaining the vertical and lateral sequence of cultural and natural stratigraphic units for accurate interpretation of temporal and spatial human activity patterns.
