Stommel Model

The Stommel Model is a theoretical ocean circulation model that, as a member of the class of box models, differs by incorporating density-dependent, nonlinear feedbacks to explain the existence of multiple stable equilibria in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation through salinity-driven thermohaline dynamics.
