Stagnation-point Heating

Stagnation-Point Heating is a phenomenon in aerodynamic heating characterized by the intense thermal flux experienced at the location on a blunt body where the oncoming supersonic or hypersonic airflow is brought to rest isentropically, resulting in the maximum convective heat transfer due to the complete conversion of kinetic energy into thermal energy at the stagnation point.
