Spore Cortex Formation
Spore Cortex Formation is a developmental process in bacterial sporulation that constitutes a specialized stage wherein a thick layer of modified peptidoglycan is synthesized between the inner and outer forespore membranes, distinguishing it from other sporulation events by its unique role in conferring heat resistance and structural integrity to the maturing endospore.
