Spo11-mediated Breaks

Spo11-Mediated Breaks is a molecular genetic phenomenon in which the evolutionarily conserved topoisomerase-like protein Spo11 catalyzes the formation of programmed double-strand breaks in DNA during prophase I of meiosis, thereby initiating homologous recombination and ensuring proper chromosome segregation.
