About

Spatial development is the planned or emergent process by which human activities and interventions shape and transform the physical and functional organization of space. As a research field and academic concept, it investigates the complex interactions between socio-economic processes, policy interventions, and the built and natural environment, and their resulting spatial patterns and transformations. It is a multidisciplinary domain that utilizes analytical frameworks, quantitative and qualitative methods, including spatial analysis and geographic information systems, to understand, evaluate, and guide spatial change towards desired societal objectives such as sustainability, equity, and efficiency within defined geographic areas.
