Soviet Theater

Soviet Theater is a theatrical tradition and institutionalized artistic practice that emerged in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and other Soviet republics after the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, distinguished by its subordination to the ideological mandates of the Communist Party, state sponsorship, and integration of avant-garde experimentation with socialist realist doctrine.
