Solubility-diffusion Mechanism

The Solubility-Diffusion Mechanism is a theoretical framework in gas separation membrane science that describes gas transport through dense polymeric membranes as a process whereby gas molecules first dissolve into the membrane material at the upstream interface and subsequently diffuse across the membrane driven by a concentration gradient, distinguishing it from other transport mechanisms by its reliance on both thermodynamic solubility and kinetic diffusivity.
