Solid Effect

Solid Effect is a mechanism in dynamic nuclear polarization that enhances nuclear spin polarization through forbidden zero- and double-quantum transitions induced by microwave irradiation of electron-nuclear spin systems with sufficiently large electron Larmor frequencies and small hyperfine couplings, distinguishing it from other polarization transfer mechanisms by its reliance on second-order perturbation effects in the electron-nuclear dipolar interaction.
