Solar Filaments

Solar filaments are cool, dense plasma structures suspended in the Sun's corona that appear as dark, thread-like formations when observed in Hα emission against the bright solar disk, distinguished from other chromospheric features by their association with magnetic neutrality lines and their potential to erupt as coronal mass ejections.
