Soft Lighting is a lighting technique in portrait photography characterized by its diffuse and low-contrast illumination, distinguished from hard lighting by its ability to produce gradual transitions between highlights and shadows, thereby minimizing facial detail obscuration and creating a flattering, even luminance across the subject’s features.
