Slum Clearance is an urban renewal policy instrument involving the systematic identification, expropriation, and demolition of deteriorated housing and informal settlements to redevelop urban land for improved sanitary, economic, and social conditions, primarily distinguished from other reform strategies by its focus on physical eradication and spatial reorganization of impoverished neighborhoods.
