Single-beam Echo Sounding

Single-Beam Echo Sounding is a hydrographic surveying technique that measures seafloor depth by emitting a single acoustic beam from a vessel-mounted transducer and calculating depth based on the two-way travel time of the returning echo, distinguished from other bathymetric methods by its use of a single, vertically directed acoustic beam.
