Silent Cinema

Silent Cinema is a historical mode and period of film production and exhibition, extending roughly from the late nineteenth century to the late 1920s, characterized by motion pictures made and shown without synchronized recorded sound or spoken dialogue, so that narrative meaning is conveyed primarily through visual composition, editing, intertitles, and often live musical accompaniment.
