Share Lending is a financial mechanism within the domain of intermediary voting chains whereby shareholders temporarily transfer their voting rights and economic interest in shares to a lending institution, typically to facilitate short selling or enhance market liquidity, while retaining beneficial ownership, thus distinguishing it from outright sale or permanent transfer of equity stakes.
